eXcel Web Hosting's SSL enabled mail server makes it a snap to communicate with our server in a secure manner - preventing your email from being snooped on unencrypted wifi hotspots.

The first option is to use SSL Web Mail, by using https://www.excelwebhost.com/webmail/. This URL can be used with any account hosted, except those on the Plesk server. To sign in, type in your full email addres and password, and choose your preferred client. Squirrelmail is a lightweight client that works well on older PC's and for occasional use of webmail. Horde is intended to be used as a full-time mail client. We suggest trying both and deciding your own preference.

SSL Email is available on the following protocols and ports:

SMTP - 25 & 587 (587 is only available on Interworx)

IMAP - 993

POP3 -  995

To use SSL Email with your normal email program, follow the instructions for your mail software below after initially setting up your email account. Replace "mail.excelwebhost.com" with "dot.excelwebhost.com" for the Plesk server.

Mozilla Thunderbird

1. On the 'Tools' menu click 'Account Settings'
2. Click on the 'Server Settings' item listed beneath your eXcel Web hosting account
3. Change the 'Server Name' to mail.excelwebhost.com
4. In 'Security Settings' click 'SSL'
5. On the left hand menu, click on 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)'
6. Click on your eXcel Web Hosting SMTP server profile, then click 'Edit'
7. Change 'Server Name' to mail.excelwebhost.com
8. Optional, and recommended: checkmark 'Use name and password', then type in your full email address. for the 'User Name'
9. Click 'SSL'. Make sure that the 'Port' field is either 25 or 587, if it is not, change it to either 25 or 587.
10. Click 'OK' 

1. On the 'Tools' menu click 'Accounts'
2. On the 'Mail' tab, click on your eXcel web hosting account, then click 'Properties'
3. On the 'Advanced' tab, checkmark 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' for both Outgoing and Incoming mail.
4. Optional, and recommended: on the 'Servers' tab, check 'My outgoing server requires authentication'
5. Click 'OK' then click 'Close'
